Meet the Founder & Author
Christina Foschini, M.Ed.
Early Literacy Expert & Family Advocate
The Gift of Reading series was born at the intersection of academic expertise and lived experience. Christina Foschini has spent over two decades in the nonprofit sector, specializing in early childhood development and parenting education. With a master’s degree in Early Literacy, her work is grounded in the belief that the home environment is the most powerful classroom a child will ever enter.
Throughout her career, Christina recognized a critical gap: families needed more than just books; they needed tools that help them navigate early developmental milestones while deepening their emotional connections.
The Inspiration: A Legacy of Connection
While her professional life is rooted in data and strategy, the soul of this series comes from Christina’s own childhood. Her maternal Italian grandparents, Vo Armando and Vo Rosa, provided a blueprint for what developmental experts call "nurturing environments."
By weaving the magic of her heritage into her narratives, Christina celebrates the foundational power of family. She translates the warmth of those early memories into a strategic framework for modern caregivers, helping them build the supportive, language-rich environments that foster lifelong learning.
Let’s empower grandparents, regardless of their background, to see themselves as the essential key to their child’s future success. When we support the bond between generations, we are building a stronger community.
The Power of Presence
"My relationship with my grandparents was the cornerstone of my childhood, providing a sanctuary where I felt deeply loved and profoundly seen. Whether they were explaining how the world worked or simply sharing a quiet moment, the time and attention they invested in me instilled a lasting sense of self-esteem and belonging.
Growing up just two houses away, my grandparents were woven into the fabric of my daily routine, from preschool pickups to our daily afternoon teatime. This undeniable bond served as a powerful, positive force during my most critical developmental years.
As an expert in early literacy, I know that my personal experience is backed by social science. Current research underscores that children with strong intergenerational support are better equipped to navigate life’s challenges with resilience, carrying that emotional strength well into adulthood.
Through the Gift of Reading series, my mission is to inspire grandparents and extended family members to cultivate these vital relationships. We aren't just reading books; we are building the relational health that allows every child to thrive."
